Jesus is special because only through him can any of us be friends with God.

It's like this :

* God made us and everything too. We belong to him and he deserves to be in control.
* But we all reject or ignore his control. The Bible calls this sin. The consequences of our sin is death and separation from God.
* Thankfully that's not the whole picture. Because God loves us he wants to forgive us. That's why he sent Jesus to earth as a person.
* By dying on the cross Jesus took the punishment for us. We were the ones who rebelled against God and sinned, but Jesus was the one who was punished.

'God has shown us how much he loves us - it was while we were still sinners that Christ died for us! (Romans chapter 5 verse 8).

* Jesus died and was buried. But three days later...
* He came back to life! By showing that he is more powerful than death,

Jesus gave us the final proof that he is God's Son.

And because he came back to life we can be sure that he is alive now.
